High Desert Second Chance serves as the leading agency and central food hub for the High Desert Food Collaborative. Their mission is to collect surplus edible food from local businesses in the High Desert and distribute it to the local communities in need. The High Desert Food Collaborative comprises more than 90 local non-profit agencies, including feeding agencies, churches, community service providers, health care facilities, recovery programs, homeless shelters, and college food pantries. These agencies receive their food supplies from High Desert Second Chance Food Bank and distribute them to the clients they serve in their respective regions. From Barstow to Wrightwood and all the cities in between, the Collaborative partners work together as a network to make a significant impact on the communities they serve. High Desert Second Chance gladly accepts various types of food donations, including fresh produce, boxed, canned, and baked goods, fresh meat, eggs, dairy, as well as frozen, cold, and hot prepared foods. They will provide you with all the necessary information on food donation and arrange for pickup, distribution, and acknowledgment of your tax-deductible donations.

In addition, they offer a No Food Goes to Waste program, which is designed for non-edible food items not suitable for human consumption but can be used as animal feed. By participating in this program, you can contribute to providing valuable food resources for livestock owners, ranchers, and local farmers while also reducing the amount of food waste in landfills.
