On the video posted by the city of our mayor speaking about Adelanto becoming the "Sillicon Valley of Marijuana" he mentioned that there would be requirements for these growers to hire residents, if I'm not mistaken the mayor stated in fact that most of the businesses, industries in the city had a requirement to hire residents as a percentage of the work force.
When I first moved here, there was a listing provided to me of the companies in the area that hired the city's residents.
I think we need to take this a step further and dedicate a page in the city's website listing these job openings from these companies. It's easy to say there were not enough applicants when no one even knew there was a job opening.
Can we begin to require these companies to list these jobs on this website if this is not being done already?

The city is receiving money from prisons, marijuana and Mello-Roos taxes. It pains me that my property taxes are so high, yet there are no recreational activities for my child (except swimming paid by a grant) there are raggedy roads, no bike paths and only one soon to come walking path (also paid by donation).
Where are my property taxes going? My city should at the very least be beautiful with lots of activities for its residents if we have to be subjected to high taxes, prisons and marijuana.
Where is the money going? I don't see it.

All the residents have now are expensive convenience stores and a small fruit & vegetable store. I've lived there and the collection of big-box stores down at Hwy 395 and Palmdale road are far from convenient to go to, especially since many local residents have limited access to an automobile.
It would seem to be a good location for a Vallarta store. I've heard that they're interested in improving the neighborhoods in which they build, and their selection and multicultural environment might be an ideal fit for the customer base they would find there.
A grocery store there could become a regional grocery shopping destination, being centrally located from many under-served outlying areas, from Lake Los Angels to the west to all points north on 395 to Barstow.

It is my understanding that the procedure for a business to set up in our city is a process that is particularly difficult in Adelanto.
I feel that we need to streamline this process to make businesses more likely to set up here.
Because Adelanto is out of the way of the main interstate highway, larger brand grocery stores are going to be more reluctant to set up here.
If they have to jump through more hoops to set up in a controversial city, they'll probably just pass.
Once the stage is set for businesses to easily set up here, we can launch a
"Shop Adelanto Campaign" to drive up business revenue for inner city businesses.
That will be considered by businesses considering setting up here.
"How much money are these people spending locally"
Easy enough research prior to any decisions to establish.
Build up our local marketplace to increase city revenues.
Then we have better means of building infrastructure.

I'm a previous resident of the Ridge View apartment complex on Auburn Ave., with several friends who still live there. Just beyond the northern fence of the property is someone's empty lot that has always been a major dump site for anonymous parties mattresses, furniture and more recently piles of household garbage. I can attest this is not the blame of the complex residents, since my apartment was just inside that fence, where I saw on several occasions people driving up and dumping their garbage.
Before I moved that site had already become a health hazard, home to clouds of flies, roaches and families of vermin; very much a health hazard to the entire region.
The site has become so large and deep with garbage that this coming summer promises to endanger the health of the entire city. The owners of that property need to be ordered to clean it up at the very least. They've had far too long with many warnings to expect voluntary remediation. The worst of many dump-sites in the area..

I am aware that the city hosted a blood drive in July 2018, but I am interested in doing another one in October or November of this year as well. There is a great shortage of blood donation and I believe that every blood drive counts. I would love to be able to work with the city on this event.
