Document (1)The residential automated solid waste collection program provided for the City of Adelanto is designed to efficiently collect trash, and recyclables. Your support and participation in this program is appreciated.

Residential ServiceConsists of one time per week automated collection of household trash and recyclables. Please place barrels at curbside the night before or no later than 6 a.m. on the day of collection. As a courtesy to your neighbor, promptly remove carts after service.

Christmas TreesAVCO will collect your Christmas trees placed at the curb on your scheduled collection day beginning December 26th and will continue for approximately two weeks on your regular collection day. Trees longer than 6' must be cut in half. Please remove ornaments, tinsel, and stands before placing at curbside.
E-WasteAVCO will collect electronic waste such as computer monitors and televisions or anything with a cord. This program is FREE and designed for your convenience. Please call our Customer Service Department one week prior to your scheduled collection day to arrange pick-up.
Hazardous Materials - WarningPlease do not expose your trash collector or landfill to dangers such as:
  • Cleaners
  • Explosives
  • Hazardous materials
  • Highly Flammable
  • Liquids that are toxic
  • Plant pesticides
  • Radioactive
Do not place these items in your barrel. Call AVCO Disposal's Customer Service Department at 760-245-8607 or call 800-OILY-CAT for hazardous waste disposal information.
Large or Bulky ItemsAVCO Disposal provides four residential curbside large or bulky item collections (maximum of 5 items per collection) during a 12-month period at no extra charge. Large or bulky items include:
  • Computer Monitor
  • Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Old appliances
  • Refrigerator or freezer
  • Scrap metal
  • Televisions
  • Tires (limit 2)
  • Tree branches
  • Wood
We cannot collect vehicle car bodies, or concrete and construction materials.
Mandatory Trash CollectionThe City of Adelanto requires weekly trash collection service for all residential and commercial properties through their contracted waste hauler, AVCO Disposal. The benefits of mandatory trash collection:
  • Discourages illegal dumping
  • Promotes public health be ensuring weekly trash removal from all properties
  • Supports the City's recycling goals by providing a controlled waste stream
On Collection DayPlace your barrels near the corner of your driveway, in the street, at curbside with the handles facing your home. The barrels must be placed at least three feet away from any obstruction such as a vehicle, fence, lamp post, power pole or mail box and one foot between other barrels.

Caution: Please keep children from playing near barrels at all times.
Sharps"Sharps waste" means hypodermic needles, pen needles, intravenous needles, lancets, and other devices that are used to penetrate the skin for the delivery of medications derived from a household. State law prohibits disposing of sharps in the trash and sharps cannot go to the landfill. Residential Barrel Customers can subscribe to AVCO's Sharps Collection Program for safe and proper disposal at no additional charge.
Tax RollThe residential Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Service Fee will be placed on the County property tax bill. Extra services provided in between tax billing cycles will be billed directly to the property owner.
Temporary Containers For Special Clean-Ups AvailableAVCO offers 3-yard to 40-yard containers for residential clean-ups and special projects. Please call our Customer Service Department for more information.
Used Oil / Oil FiltersPlease contact AVCO's Customer Service Department to request and schedule your used oil container for proper collection. AVCO will collect your used oil and used oil filters on your scheduled collection day when placed outside next to your trash barrel up to 4 times per year.
Walk Out ServiceSenior and handicapped residents or those who are physically unable to take their barrels to the curb may request this service at no additional charge. Contact AVCO's Customer Service Department for more information.
